LIVE HEALTHY, DRIVER HEALTH

EXCLUSIVELY FOR TSA MEMBERS

Life on the road can become an all-consuming lifestyle. You take care of your customers and your truck, but YOU are your business. Keeping your business healthy means keeping yourself healthy first.

Is stress making you fat, sick, and exhausted?

Stress doesn’t only come from a tight delivery window or a bad day at the dock. Nick Kuhle, a holistic lifestyle and corrective exercise coach with KuhleFit, compares the body to a lake fed by many creeks. Each creek is a different kind of stress: money, relationships, poor food, chemicals, heat and cold, short sleep. Some stress is useful. It’s how muscles get stronger. But when it pours in faster than your body can handle, it spills over the banks. Kuhle sees that overflow show up as weight gain, low energy, and getting sick more often.

His fixes are simple, and most of them fit inside a truck cab. Trade processed truck stop food for whole foods like vegetables, fruit, eggs, meat, and nuts, and drink plenty of water. If you’ve been sitting all day, he suggests moving for 30 minutes, twice a day.

Say no to things that pull you off course, cut back on news and social media, and take 15 minutes to plan your day and your meals. Kuhle even recommends cold showers to clear a busy head. Read the full article for all five types of stress and his top techniques.
