LIVE HEALTHY, DRIVER HEALTH
EXCLUSIVELY FOR TSA MEMBERS
Life on the road can become an all-consuming lifestyle. You take care of your customers and your truck, but YOU are your business. Keeping your business healthy means keeping yourself healthy first.
I’ll sleep when I’m dead is an express ticket to an early life
Sleep might be the cheapest, most overlooked tool you have for staying healthy on the road. When you skip it to squeeze in more miles or more paperwork, your body pays you back with more stress, more cravings, and less energy the next day. Aim for a consistent bedtime and wake time — 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM is a good target — and treat it like an appointment you don’t miss. Your body runs on cycles, and the more you fight them, the harder everything else gets.
Three things quietly wreck good sleep: screens, sugar/alcohol, and caffeine too late in the day. The blue light from your phone or TV tells your brain it’s morning, even at midnight, so try powering down electronics a couple hours before bed. Skip the late-night soda or nightcap, and cut caffeine off by noon — it hangs around in your system a lot longer than you’d think. Add a dark, cool room (65° is a good number), and you’ll wake up feeling like you actually rested, not just clocked out for a few hours.
